Clean Energy Initiatives

Reliable access to electricity remains a challenge for many households, students, and small businesses in rural communities. Without power, students struggle to study at night, entrepreneurs cannot run small shops efficiently, and families cannot charge basic devices that keep them informed and connected.

Our Solar Charging Station Initiative aims to provide community-powered clean energy hubs that allow residents to charge phones, study at night, power basic tools, and support micro-businesses — all at no cost.

About the project

Starting point

We began by listening to the needs of community members in Ijebu North and Ijebu North East, especially in Odosubugbawa (Ayayo) and surrounding villages. We discovered that although the region is rich in farming and cultural heritage, energy access remains very limited, affecting education, communication, and economic development.

Support from local communities

This initiative is being built with the community, not just for the community.

Local youths, artisans, elders, and leaders contributed insights on the best location, safety, and management approach. This ensures ownership, sustainability, and long-term impact.

End result

The solar hubs will serve as:

Learning & evening study centers for students

Device charging and communication stations

Support points for local businesses

Models for clean-energy community development
