Culture Preservation
Odosubugbawa has a long-standing cultural heritage, especially the annual “Epo & Agere Night” — a vibrant celebration of music, drumming, storytelling, communal feasting, and unity.
In the past, this festival brought families home, strengthened community identity, and connected the younger generation to our ancestral values and pride.
However, over the years, financial constraints and rural-to-urban migration have caused participation to decline. Many youths no longer return home during the festive season, and a once-powerful cultural tradition is slowly fading.
Our foundation is committed to reviving, supporting, and preserving this heritage as a symbol of unity, pride, and identity for the community.
About the project
Starting point
During our engagement with elders, youth leaders, and cultural custodians, we found a deep desire to restore the festival’s spirit and attendance.
Community members expressed concern that, without intentional support, the festival may disappear — and along with it, the communal joy and identity it represents.
This project began with a simple but meaningful goal:
Bring people home again.
Support from local communities
This initiative is community-led and tradition-driven.
We collaborate with:
Village elders and cultural custodians
Youth groups and community development leaders
Local performers, drummers, and artisans
Our role is to provide logistical, financial, and organizational support to ensure the festival is celebrated with honor, structure, and sustainability.
We also encourage youth participation, so that this heritage continues from one generation to the next.
End result
By uplifting the cultural traditions of Odosubugbawa, we aim to:
Rebuild community unity and spirit
Encourage homecoming during festive season
Celebrate indigenous music, dance, and storytelling
Restore cultural pride among the youth
Strengthen the identity of Odosubugbawa as a royal and historically rooted community
This festival is not just entertainment —
It is our history, our identity, and our collective memory.
And now, it is our future again.
